The History of On Site Rentals Pty Limited
On Site Rentals Pty Limited was established in February 1990, when the current Company Directors recognised a market opportunity to develop a specialised business in the rental of portable accommodation and portable rest rooms. A decision was made to buy out specific assets of Hire Kingdom Pty Limited and establish On Site Rentals Pty Limited.
On Site Rentals grew in spite of Australia's major economic downturn during the early 90's. This growth was largely due to the energy and dedication of the founding employees. Their enthusiasm set the standard for industry peers and as the company grew from strength to strength, many early critics of the "On Site Vision" were silenced.
The tenacity and dedication of those founding employees, 50% of whom are still with us today, has become an integral part of On Site Rental's culture. Customers and employees alike see the company as a, "Can do. Will do" organisation.
The company was originally established with the head office in Moorebank, NSW and a subsidiary office in Wyong. In September 1994, Head Office was moved to its present location in Glendenning, Western Sydney. The Glendenning site, a 5 acre Greenfield site provided room for expansion and was conveniently located to greater Sydney. The Wyong branch relocated to larger premises at Morisset in 1999.
Onsite Special Events has been part of On Site Rentals from the very beginning. In those early days, however, there was little focus placed on the business as a distinct sales or marketing operation from the rest of On Site's operation. Onsite Special Events has achieved excellent growth results over the 16 years of operation.
On Site Rentals expanded into Queensland in the second half of 1995 by establishing an office in Brisbane. This office services metropolitan, coastal and country regions. A branch at
Labrador on the Gold Coast was established in early 2003 to service the growing market south of Brisbane. The need for larger premises has seen the relocation of the Gold Coast branch to Tugun in May 2007. In June 2006 the business of Portable Solutions on the Gold Coast was acquired to provide a presence in the region, allowing On Site to expand their portable building and sanitation business and complement their existing South East Queensland locations in Rocklea and Tugun. In April 2007 another branch was established at Townsville in Northern Queensland.
On Site Rentals expanded their business in 1997 to include Container Rental. This resulted from the purchase of the rental arm of World Wide Containers.
In February 1999 Hocking Hire was purchased to provide On Site with an opportunity to enter into the Victorian market place. Based in metropolitan Melbourne, this operation has expanded significantly over its short life span. In July 2003 the acquisition of the "Porta Flush" business in Altona North added to our market share in the Southern capital. The continued expansion of the Melbourne business necessitated the relocation of the Edithvale and Altona sites into one larger facility at Doveton in February 2004.
In June 2007 our expansion continued, with the establishment of 2 branches in Western Australia - in Perth and also in Karratha to service the resources sector in the North West of Australia.
From 1st July 2007, On Site Rentals and our sister company On Site Access and Scaffolds joined more closely through a financial relationship with the private equity firm Next Capital who have considerable experience in our rental industry. This will allow the company to continue its strong growth into exciting new areas in our industry.
Over the 17 years of operation, On Site Rentals has maintained core values that continue to serve them well. These include a dedication to Customer Service and their satisfaction, recognition of the importance of their people and the provision of a quality product. These values are carried into the future via the company's Vision Statement.
